On the occasion of the 11th edition of the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino (CLIP), taking place from July 21 to 27, Rhea – one of the world’s leading producers of automatic coffee break machines – announces its participation as a cultural partner.
In the year of its 65th anniversary, Rhea pays tribute to Carlo Majer: a refined and perceptive intellectual, music critic and artistic director of theatres such as the Regio in Turin and the San Carlo in Naples, Carlo Majer led Rhea for nearly 20 years, bringing together his deep musical culture and entrepreneurial vision in the company founded by his father, leaving behind a profound legacy that continues to inspire Rhea today.
Through a collaboration with the Giovanni Bottesini Music Association, Rhea is launching the Carlo Majer Award, which will be presented to the top three young artists selected by the jury of the competition. The prize is both a tribute to Carlo Majer’s legacy and a tangible expression of Rhea’s commitment to fostering culture through support for the next generation of talent.
The first-place winner will receive the inaugural edition of a “trophy” inspired by an original artwork realized by Carlo himself during his time at Rhea.
And so as not to forget the world of coffee, a limited-edition coffee machine, customised for the occasion, will be unveiled at the Teatrino di Portofino, where the selections are held. The machine stands as a testament to the company’s long-standing connection with art, beauty, and cultural innovation, and as a concrete expression of the tailor-made spirit that sets ‘Made in Italy’ apart.
“Music and coffee share a language of the senses: emotion, complexity, and sensitivity. This profound affinity connects us to Carlo’s cultural legacy and to the world of opera. The Carlo Majer Award reflects Rhea’s commitment to supporting the arts and young talent, offering not only recognition but also a small push toward their future.” – Andrea Pozzolini, CEO of Rhea
